Sammy Tippit

Sammy Tippit has proclaimed God’s message of peace in war-torn Burundi, met with government and religious leaders shortly after the attempted genocide in Rwanda, and brought hope to persecuted believers in the former Soviet-bloc nations. In 2007 Tippit was diagnosed with cancer. Prior to surgery, God spoke to his heart to fulfill a life-long dream of running the course of the original Greek marathon. He lost 60 pounds and ran the “Athens Classic Marathon” in November 2008, experiencing a great spiritual renewal. One year later, he won the gold medal in the 400 meters at the Texas Senior Games.
Sammy Tippit is married to Debara “Tex” Sirman. They have two children and five grandchildren.
