Eternal Healing: A Letter from Our Publisher

Brooke Bartz

While September may feature pumpkins, football, and the start of fall, it also highlights and is recognized as Pain Awareness Month. At some point in life, we all experience pain on some level, whether it is physical, emotional, or spiritual. It is the one thing in life that cannot be avoided no matter how hard we may try. There are many individuals who battle pain on a daily basis due to chronic illness, and they fight every day to live a normal life.

Author Brooke Bartz discovered she had rheumatoid arthritis and gastroparesis early in her life. But she didn’t let her illness stop her from sharing the love of God with those around her. In her book, Chronic Love, Brooke points out that suffering is inescapable in this world, but the pain of our trials are not the end. She gives readers the Biblical encouragement that is needed to help overcome the daily battles many face while living with a chronic illness.

“To My New Friends,

In the following pages, you’ll discover an open book of carefully chosen words, penned in the quiet nooks of my heart’s journal and now, putting pen to paper, offered as hope-filled letters to you. If you’re a woman with a disease or disability, or if you’re a caregiver of one with disease, please know you’re not alone.

The disease or disability you’re enduring is God’s chosen will for you, and it may be gone tomorrow, or you may carry it with you for the rest of your life. I find comfort in the apostle Paul’s divinely, inspired words, “…in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Like me, your life may be enmeshed with disease or disability – but your life doesn’t abound in it. If you’re a believer in our Lord, Jesus Christ, then experiencing a disease doesn’t ever change the fact that you’re an heir to the King and kept by the merciful and consuming affection of a Father who cares for you. He doesn’t turn His head in disgust or ignorance or dismiss your disease and the trials you face; but He has ordained it.”

“I know disease can deflate your heart at times. I know the suffering you go through yanks, jerks, and pulls your body like matchstick-thin shoelaces ripping through the loops of beaten up sneakers. Disease is like a stainless-steel faucet pouring out water upon you, cold and relentless, and the resulting tears you cry could fill the infinite ocean. I know your prayers to end this trial could fill a best-selling memoir, and your pain from suffering could overwhelm a skilled and strategic army, yet though you feel vastly outwitted and outnumbered, you have no reason to fear disease or tremble at death if you’re in Christ.

There is no fear in death when we have Christ as our Victor, Christ as our Reward. Death takes us into eternity, either with life and love eternal or with weeping and gnashing of teeth and separation from God. One day we will die, and when we take our last breath, we will either be in Heaven in serene rest or with Satan in eternal torment. As believers, we get to choose to die with knowing Christ as our Lord, our Forever Healer; we will die with confidence in His Truth. As a believer, you choose to live life in the confidence and faith that God is in control and that you can trust Him through the pain. You can choose to live with the choice of goodness and righteousness, being blameless like Christ who chose the Father’s will to be done. You can choose to live for the Father, to be content and wait; even with your earth-bound body in the throes of disease or disability, you can say, ‘Not my will, Lord, but thy will be done.’”

#Throwback Thursday: A Scent of Water + Back to School

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

It’s back-to-school season!

Autumn will be here sooner than later, but this month and some of the next, kiddos all around the world head back to school. Homeschool, public school, Christian school – we are blessed with so many choices for our children.

In this season of back-to-school pictures and smiling faces with fresh backpacks, we wanted to highlight a book that talks about the Christian school movement, its importance, and its struggles.

One of the surprising benefits of the pandemic was that Christian schools in the USA saw record enrollment. The once-lagging education model was given life and energy for a short period of time.

However, more change is still needed.

A Scent of Water details what Christian schools desperately need – strong leadership. In addition to the usual requirements of running a school, Christian schools also need leaders who can fundraise, find vision, and motivate parents to invest in the school.

David Daly is a faithful, born-again Christian from Northern Ireland, currently living in England with his wife, Gay. Officially retired, David spends time sharing his testimony, studying Scripture, and staying active in the community with his wife. David’s mission is to use his story to inspire others and glorify God. His book, One Way to Grace: A Memoir Through Scripture, authored with Dawn Merrow, was published by Ambassador International on August 15, 2007.

Addiction and inner struggle haunted David throughout his life. After losing everything, David repented and turned to Jesus for deliverance and to God’s Holy Word for guidance through the Holy Spirit. An eye-opening visit to Israel became a turning point in David’s life, but ongoing challenges continued to test David’s faith.

One Way to Grace covers the span of David’s life experiences, starting with his birth and childhood spent in the tumultuous civil unrest of Northern Ireland and culminating with his transformation into a devout believer.

Follow along as he discovers how to stand strong with his faith in Jesus that saved his life. David’s testimony demonstrates the loving, healing power of an honest walk with Christ.

#Throwback Thursday: God and the Atheist

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

Paul Ferguson was born in Northern Ireland and studied Biochemistry at Queen’s University, Belfast and Law at King’s College, University of London. He practiced Corporate Law for five years in London and has been a lecturer in Law and British History in various universities in South East Asia.

After being challenged by students while teaching in Singapore to prove that God exists, Ferguson set out to do just that and thus was born his book God and the Atheist: A Lawyer Assesses the Evidence for the Existence of God published by Ambassador International on March 31, 2007.

We are living in an increasingly secular age where man seeks to build his own life without recourse to his Creator God. Under the guise of “rationalism,” Christianity is ridiculed as “out of date”or “irrelevant.” This contemporary materialistic age has philosophically popularized the identification of being an agnostic or an atheist. It has become “academic” to denounce the existence of God and to be an evolutionist in all the social sciences of epistemology. Consequently, secular Western Civilization has become atheistic in belief and life.

In each chapter of his book, Ferguson evaluates and sets out the evidence to answer the atheist’s objections to the existence of God.

God and the Atheist answers the most fundamental questions about Christianity, such as:

  • How do we know there is a God?
  • How do we know there is only one God?
  • How do we know the Bible is the Word of God?

In a readable and humorous style, Ferguson precisely builds a remorselessly logical case using his legal and scientific skills to guide the objective reader to discover the truth of Who God is. Although the discussion often veers into the academic, Ferguson works hard to make it understandable to those without a scientific background.

#Throwback Thursday: Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good: How to Identify, Debunk, and Dismantle Dangerous Ideas

posted on

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good: How to Identify, Debunk, and Dismantle Dangerous Ideas was published by Ambassador International on October 27, 2020. Why did we pick this book to feature for our #ThrowbackThursday? Because “truth is an early casualty of political correctness.” So, there’s no better time than to close out what the world recognizes as “Pride Month” than by highlighting a book that helps readers fight lies with the truth. Truth matters, and its mechanism of dissemination is words.

In his book, Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good, Douglas Kruger, an international speaker and author, looks at each of the most popular issues in today’s culture—their origins, their purpose, their arguments, and their lies.

Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good is a guide to combating toxic Politically Correct culture, from socialism to identity-politics, and halting the creep of harmful ideologies across our civilization. It is a how-to manual for hardcore debaters, who believe in the value of hard-won Western traditions, such as science, logic, free markets, rule of law, and the Judeo-Christian tradition. The book helps readers to understand and articulate the flaws and fallacies taken for granted in “woke” culture today with the end goal of winning hearts and minds.

In this politically correct world, Douglas Kruger helps readers see that being politically correct isn’t creating peace but instead is starting a war. And he gives us the tools we need to ready ourselves for the fight for right.Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good by Douglas Kruger

The conclusion of Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good is this: You can have political correctness, or you can have truth. But you cannot have both.

#Throwback Thursday: The Sex Spiral

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

Dustin Daniels is the Senior Pastor of the River Bible Church in Cottonwood, AZ. He is the co-founder of Revive40, a Christ-centered sexual purity ministry that teaches and trains God’s design for sex, marriage, and the family. He is also the host of the podcast, “God, Sex and You,” that is listened to in 80 countries around the world. Dustin and his wife Amy, live in Cottonwood, AZ. Dustin Daniels

Dustin’s book, The Sex Spiral: Forgiven and Free from Pornography, was published by Ambassador International on January 8, 2018. While this book doesn’t fall too far back in our catalogue backlist, we felt this book was appropriate to share during the month of June because Dustin’s book first looks at God’s design for marriage and sexuality.

Every Sunday, in Bible-believing churches across the world, pews are filled with men and women who have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ. However, millions of people walk away from the worship service confused as to why they are not experiencing the freedom that the Scriptures proclaim.

The Sex Spiral Throwback ThursdayThere is a direct correlation between the confusion and apathy of sexuality within our churches and the pandemic of pornography in our pews.

Unfortunately, the statistics are too big to quote and we don’t believe them when we do. How is it possible that so many Christians are addicted to pornography? Isn’t Jesus enough? Why are we still being tempted with lust? What’s wrong? What’s missing?

Sexual sin is powerful and unforgiving—it grows if unaddressed and devours lives. Daniels writes that it was only through his active church community and, most importantly, the forgiveness and grace of Jesus Christ, which broke his spiral of sin and allowed him the freedom that the Scriptures proclaim. Daniels’ book is not a self-help book or a twelve-step program, but rather The Sex Spiral: Forgiven and Free From Pornography is a Biblical plan to experience not only the forgiveness of Jesus Christ, but also the freedom He promises.

In Memory: H. Robert Wilson, Ph.D.

posted on

We are not always made aware of major life events in our authors’ lives, but today we were notified by family that on May 27, 2023, Dr. H. Robert Wilson passed away after a three-week battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. While we know he is rejoicing at having met his Creator he loved so dearly, we also know his family is grieving at their loss here on earth. Please be in prayer for his family as they grieve.

Dr. H. Robert Wilson was trained in biology with a PhD degree in Zoology (parasitology, anatomy and physiology), which he followed with a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pathology. He had an active research career spanning three decades, much of that time in the pharmaceutical industry involved in the exciting task of finding, evaluating, and testing possible new medications against certain infectious diseases and cancer, which he and his colleagues hoped might ultimately benefit patients.

Though becoming a Christian in 1974, he still accepted evolution as real because “I educationally grew up with it, just accepting it, and never critically questioning whether it actually was real or not. It somehow just was, and as to what Scripture revealed? I believed God created, surely, but—I did not even attempt to reconcile Scripture’s truth with the science I knew at that time. God forgive me.”

Reading a sentence in Lee Strobel’s “The Case for a Creator,” Dr. Wilson found himself stunned, and “the more I looked into what evolution taught in accepted textbooks and standard reference materials, the more I found that it was not the science, not the truth, and not the fact it claimed to be.”

Nullifying GodAs a result, Dr. Wilson authored Nullifying God: Evolution’s End Game, A Scientist’s Challenge, a wonderful apologetic book written for Christians and other readers who are not familiar with science. Dr. Wilson hoped to provide a resource to help Christians be able to clearly see, point-by-point, the outright (and likely unintentional) deception that evolution is in presenting itself as accepted fact and to also understand how its staunch advocates and activists—although certainly not all of evolution supporters—are using evolution to attempt to nullify God in our lives.

Not only did Dr. Wilson provide this resource for Christians, but he was active in the social media sphere {especially on Twitter!} using his brilliant mind and science knowledge to speak the truth regarding Creation.

He will certainly be missed, and his family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep them in yours as well.

#Throwback Thursday: What Good is Jesus?

posted on

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

When children are sold into slavery—what good is Jesus? When wretched disease takes a loved one’s life—what good is Jesus? When marriages crumble and jobs disappoint—what good is Jesus? When I don’t agree with someone’s lifestyle—what good is Jesus?

Marv Nelson tackled these questions (and more!) in his book What Good is Jesus? published by Ambassador International on March 8, 2016.

Marv Nelson has been an Alliance pastor for over seventeen years and serves as an adjunct professor at Crown College. He has a Masters of Divinity degree and is currently working toward his doctorate. Marv has written several books, including The Anchored Life: Nautical Principles that Help Believers Grow and Unleash: Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders.

If you’re not living with your head under a rock, you’ve probably looked around and observed that many people seem to know of Jesus, but few actually know Him. The real entity of Jesus has been tainted by how His followers have portrayed His image in their lives. The institution of religion has overtaken the beauty of relationship, and many Christians are walking away with a bitter taste. Deconstruction, anyone?

Faced with declining opportunities, a war-torn globe, and seemingly-insurmountable crises, many millennials are asking the sincere question: what good is Jesus? Pastor Marv Nelson doesn’t avoid tough questions; instead, he tackles issues head-on with love and wisdom. Examining sexuality, politics, racial tensions, suffering, and more, Nelson addresses these problems through a relational rather than religious approach and shows us just what good Jesus really is.
