Love into the Light: The Gospel, The Homosexual and the Church

unnamed (3)

Synopsis: Homosexuality is one of the most controversial moral issues of our day. Headlines teem with stories of athletes’“coming out,” politicians changing positions and courts handing down same-sex marriage rulings. Sadly the church has often been afraid to talk about homosexuality. Many Christians feel confused and divided between the call to love and the call for truth. And many who struggle with unwanted same-sex attraction feel alone and alienated by the church. The time is ripe for God’s people to think and speak about same-sex attraction in a way that is both biblical and beneficial. We must reject our fears and misunderstandings and see ourselves together in need of the grace of Jesus. Love Into Light is designed to move the church toward that end. Written from the heart of a pastor with a love for people and a sensitivity to our culture, Love Into Light is your next step toward becoming more faithfully and helpfully engaged with people in your families, in your church and in your neighborhood. By God’s Design: Overcoming Same-Sex Attraction: A True Story

unnamed (5) Synopsis: What happens when a man finds himself sunk in a downward spiral of risky homosexual acts and he knows no way to escape?  And when he is about to lose his prestigious and profitable career, along with his marriage, and even his life?  The answer would have been certain tragedy for Alan Medinger if not for a praying wife and the mercy of God. Restored and inspired, he went on to establish a ministry for same-sex-attracted people (Regeneration of Baltimore, Maryland), where he and his wife, Willa, influenced hundreds to turn from homosexuality and seek holiness.  Through their work with Exodus International, they influenced thousands more. When quarrels and dissension affected Exodus in Alan’s last years, he predicted its demise and explained how ministries would continue to succeed without it. Through Alan and Willa Medinger’s story in By God’s Design,  you will learn the truth about homosexuality, its causes, its healing, and how the church can help. BUY NOW

Tear Down this Wall of Silence: Dealing with Sexual Abuse in Our Churches (An Introduction for Those who will Hear)

unnamed (4) Synopsis: Why do so many of our churches feel like a safe place for sexual offenders, but an unsafe place for survivors of abuse? The wall of silence regarding sexual abuse in our churches must be torn down. Christians must hear.

Tear Down This Wall of Silence answers questions such as:

  • Who are the Enablers who help keep a system of abuse in place?
  • Wrong thinking has kept this sin covered in our churches for decades. What are the truths that need to be proclaimed instead?
  • Churches, families, and friends must not turn away. How do we properly grieve such a tragedy? How can we offer hope?
  • The offender must show fruits of repentance. How can he begin to make restitution?
  • How can the abuse survivor find true safety in Jesus Christ?

Through personal memoir, voices of authoritative professionals, and the words of abuse survivors themselves, Tear Down This Wall of Silence provides a foundational explanation of the problem of sexual abuse in our churches and its aftermath, and offers hope for real change. BUY NOW

Challies.com Names An Infinite Journey as Top Book for 2014

posted on

For the second year in a row Tim Challies has included an Ambassador International title as one of his favorite books of the year. For 2014 Challies listed An Infinite Journey: Growing Toward Christlikeness by Dr. Andrew Davis as one of his favorite books of the year. Challies writes, “It is a book about growing toward spiritual maturity, but it is more than that; it is also a map for the journey. This makes it something like a systematic theology of spiritual growth and maturity, and one that will benefit any Christian.”

Challies Infinite Journey

Last year, Ambassador International’s book Love Into Light: The Gospel, the Homosexual and the Church made Challies list of top books for 2013. We are thrilled to be one of the few publishers recognized year after year on this popular list. Have you read these books? If not, what are you waiting for? Top Christian Authors to Watch in 2014

posted on

It’s a new year and 2014 is already proving to be a great one for books! Vyrso.com recently released their list of “Top 15 Authors to Watch in 2014” and Ambassador International is thrilled to report that three of our authors are on the list! Here’s what Vyrso has to say: “Honestly, we couldn’t be more excited about the talent coming out this year. From names you’ve probably never heard before (but will soon), to already-burgeoning stars, this list represents our top 15 picks (in no particular order) of authors to watch in 2014.” To see the full list of 15 authors visit blog.vyrso.com. Here are the three Ambassador authors from the list:

An Infinite Journey5. Dr. Andrew Davis

Although not a household name quite yet, Dr. Davis was recently  given the honor of speaking alongside some big-name Christian authors at the CrossCon conference, including John Piper, David Platt, David Sitton, and others. His first book, An Infinite Journey, has already received a glowing review from D. A. Carson and is expected to receive even more praise once it’s released January 10.

7. David SittonReckless Abandon

After publishing Reckless Abandon and founding an organization that sends missionary teams to plant churches across the globe, Sitton has even bigger plans for global outreach in 2014. He has two new books slated to come out this year: a biography on his late mentor, Joe Cannon, a global missionary, followed by Ekballo—a book about being called to missions work and sharing God’s good news with the world.

Love Into Light14. Peter Hubbard

Love Into Light: The Gospel, the Homosexual and the Church was one of Vyrso’s bestselling books of 2013 and was also just listed in Tim Challies’ Top Books of 2013. Even though this was Hubbard’s first major book release, he wasn’t afraid to tackle one of the church’s most controversial topics—homosexuality— with both passion and care. At the cusp of 2014, this book is still gaining traction and is getting the author fired up for a followup title.

Love Into LightYou’re invited to a Google + Hangout with author Peter Hubbard tonight at 7pm Central. We’ll be discussing the Defense of Marriage Act ruling, the end of Exodus International and Peter’s new book, Love Into Light: The Gospel, The Homosexual and The Church. Buy the book for your Kindle for just $3.99, regularly $9.99.

Could God use one of the most controversial moral issues in our nation to awaken His church rather than damage it? Pastor Peter Hubbard believes He can. In his new book Love Into Light: The Gospel, The Homosexual and The Church Hubbard asks “How can Christians live in a culture that promotes the gay lifestyle, yet worship in a culture that never talks about it– other than possibly to condemn it?”

Love Into Light seeks to inject the cultural conversation with the same love and truth that Jesus offers. For those that see homosexuality as somehow worse than other sins, Hubbard offers clarity through his real-life counseling examples and scripture, explaining that self-righteous judgment of homosexuality is a sin just like homosexual behavior itself. “If our attitude toward a gay or lesbian person is disgust, we have forgotten the gospel,” says Hubbard. And for those who feel the Bible is an outdated resource on the topic, Hubbard argues its relevance.
