#Throwback Thursday: One Way to Grace

posted on

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

David Daly is a faithful, born-again Christian from Northern Ireland, currently living in England with his wife, Gay. Officially retired, David spends time sharing his testimony, studying Scripture, and staying active in the community with his wife. David’s mission is to use his story to inspire others and glorify God. His book, One Way to Grace: A Memoir Through Scripture, authored with Dawn Merrow, was published by Ambassador International on August 15, 2007.

Addiction and inner struggle haunted David throughout his life. After losing everything, David repented and turned to Jesus for deliverance and to God’s Holy Word for guidance through the Holy Spirit. An eye-opening visit to Israel became a turning point in David’s life, but ongoing challenges continued to test David’s faith.

One Way to Grace covers the span of David’s life experiences, starting with his birth and childhood spent in the tumultuous civil unrest of Northern Ireland and culminating with his transformation into a devout believer.

Follow along as he discovers how to stand strong with his faith in Jesus that saved his life. David’s testimony demonstrates the loving, healing power of an honest walk with Christ.

#Throwback Thursday: God and the Atheist

posted on

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

Paul Ferguson was born in Northern Ireland and studied Biochemistry at Queen’s University, Belfast and Law at King’s College, University of London. He practiced Corporate Law for five years in London and has been a lecturer in Law and British History in various universities in South East Asia.

After being challenged by students while teaching in Singapore to prove that God exists, Ferguson set out to do just that and thus was born his book God and the Atheist: A Lawyer Assesses the Evidence for the Existence of God published by Ambassador International on March 31, 2007.

We are living in an increasingly secular age where man seeks to build his own life without recourse to his Creator God. Under the guise of “rationalism,” Christianity is ridiculed as “out of date”or “irrelevant.” This contemporary materialistic age has philosophically popularized the identification of being an agnostic or an atheist. It has become “academic” to denounce the existence of God and to be an evolutionist in all the social sciences of epistemology. Consequently, secular Western Civilization has become atheistic in belief and life.

In each chapter of his book, Ferguson evaluates and sets out the evidence to answer the atheist’s objections to the existence of God.

God and the Atheist answers the most fundamental questions about Christianity, such as:

  • How do we know there is a God?
  • How do we know there is only one God?
  • How do we know the Bible is the Word of God?

In a readable and humorous style, Ferguson precisely builds a remorselessly logical case using his legal and scientific skills to guide the objective reader to discover the truth of Who God is. Although the discussion often veers into the academic, Ferguson works hard to make it understandable to those without a scientific background.

#Throwback Thursday: Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good: How to Identify, Debunk, and Dismantle Dangerous Ideas

posted on

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good: How to Identify, Debunk, and Dismantle Dangerous Ideas was published by Ambassador International on October 27, 2020. Why did we pick this book to feature for our #ThrowbackThursday? Because “truth is an early casualty of political correctness.” So, there’s no better time than to close out what the world recognizes as “Pride Month” than by highlighting a book that helps readers fight lies with the truth. Truth matters, and its mechanism of dissemination is words.

In his book, Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good, Douglas Kruger, an international speaker and author, looks at each of the most popular issues in today’s culture—their origins, their purpose, their arguments, and their lies.

Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good is a guide to combating toxic Politically Correct culture, from socialism to identity-politics, and halting the creep of harmful ideologies across our civilization. It is a how-to manual for hardcore debaters, who believe in the value of hard-won Western traditions, such as science, logic, free markets, rule of law, and the Judeo-Christian tradition. The book helps readers to understand and articulate the flaws and fallacies taken for granted in “woke” culture today with the end goal of winning hearts and minds.

In this politically correct world, Douglas Kruger helps readers see that being politically correct isn’t creating peace but instead is starting a war. And he gives us the tools we need to ready ourselves for the fight for right.Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good by Douglas Kruger

The conclusion of Political Correctness Does More Harm Than Good is this: You can have political correctness, or you can have truth. But you cannot have both.

#Throwback Thursday: The Sex Spiral

posted on

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

Dustin Daniels is the Senior Pastor of the River Bible Church in Cottonwood, AZ. He is the co-founder of Revive40, a Christ-centered sexual purity ministry that teaches and trains God’s design for sex, marriage, and the family. He is also the host of the podcast, “God, Sex and You,” that is listened to in 80 countries around the world. Dustin and his wife Amy, live in Cottonwood, AZ. Dustin Daniels

Dustin’s book, The Sex Spiral: Forgiven and Free from Pornography, was published by Ambassador International on January 8, 2018. While this book doesn’t fall too far back in our catalogue backlist, we felt this book was appropriate to share during the month of June because Dustin’s book first looks at God’s design for marriage and sexuality.

Every Sunday, in Bible-believing churches across the world, pews are filled with men and women who have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ. However, millions of people walk away from the worship service confused as to why they are not experiencing the freedom that the Scriptures proclaim.

The Sex Spiral Throwback ThursdayThere is a direct correlation between the confusion and apathy of sexuality within our churches and the pandemic of pornography in our pews.

Unfortunately, the statistics are too big to quote and we don’t believe them when we do. How is it possible that so many Christians are addicted to pornography? Isn’t Jesus enough? Why are we still being tempted with lust? What’s wrong? What’s missing?

Sexual sin is powerful and unforgiving—it grows if unaddressed and devours lives. Daniels writes that it was only through his active church community and, most importantly, the forgiveness and grace of Jesus Christ, which broke his spiral of sin and allowed him the freedom that the Scriptures proclaim. Daniels’ book is not a self-help book or a twelve-step program, but rather The Sex Spiral: Forgiven and Free From Pornography is a Biblical plan to experience not only the forgiveness of Jesus Christ, but also the freedom He promises.

#Throwback Thursday: What Good is Jesus?

posted on

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

When children are sold into slavery—what good is Jesus? When wretched disease takes a loved one’s life—what good is Jesus? When marriages crumble and jobs disappoint—what good is Jesus? When I don’t agree with someone’s lifestyle—what good is Jesus?

Marv Nelson tackled these questions (and more!) in his book What Good is Jesus? published by Ambassador International on March 8, 2016.

Marv Nelson has been an Alliance pastor for over seventeen years and serves as an adjunct professor at Crown College. He has a Masters of Divinity degree and is currently working toward his doctorate. Marv has written several books, including The Anchored Life: Nautical Principles that Help Believers Grow and Unleash: Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders.

If you’re not living with your head under a rock, you’ve probably looked around and observed that many people seem to know of Jesus, but few actually know Him. The real entity of Jesus has been tainted by how His followers have portrayed His image in their lives. The institution of religion has overtaken the beauty of relationship, and many Christians are walking away with a bitter taste. Deconstruction, anyone?

Faced with declining opportunities, a war-torn globe, and seemingly-insurmountable crises, many millennials are asking the sincere question: what good is Jesus? Pastor Marv Nelson doesn’t avoid tough questions; instead, he tackles issues head-on with love and wisdom. Examining sexuality, politics, racial tensions, suffering, and more, Nelson addresses these problems through a relational rather than religious approach and shows us just what good Jesus really is.

#Throwback Thursday: By God’s Design: Overcoming Same Sex Attractions: A True Story

What happens when a man finds himself sunk in a downward spiral of risky homosexual acts and he knows no way to escape? And when he is about to lose his prestigious and profitable career, along with his marriage, and even his life?

The answer would have been certain tragedy for Alan Medinger if not for a praying wife and the mercy of God. Restored and inspired, he went on to establish a ministry for same-sex-attracted people (Regeneration of Baltimore, Maryland), where he and his wife, Willa, influenced hundreds to turn from homosexuality and seek holiness. Through their work with Exodus International, they influenced thousands more. When quarrels and dissension affected Exodus in Alan’s last years, he predicted its demise and explained how ministries would continue to succeed without it.

Through Alan and Willa Medinger’s story in By God’s Design, you will learn the truth about homosexuality, its causes, its healing, and how the church can help.

“For anyone who cares for the LGBT community, this is a must read. Alan’s story of transformation and his decades of ministry to the sexually broken gives him unique authority to share the power available in the gospel of Jesus. This book is an important addition to the current conversation about homosexuality: Jesus doesn’t just accept and forgive people, He transforms them.”

#Throwback Thursday: Love Into Light: The Gospel, the Homosexual and the Church

posted on

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

Peter Hubbard is Teaching Pastor at North Hills Community Church in Taylors, SC, where he has communicated the truth of the Scriptures since the church began in 1992. He has earned two masters degrees and is currently completing a doctor of ministry degree in pastoral counseling at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.

In his book Love Into Light: The Gospel, The Homosexual and The Church, published by Ambassador International on June 24, 2013, Hubbard seeks to answer the question, “How can Christians live in a culture that promotes the gay lifestyle, yet worship in a culture that never talks about it—other than possibly to condemn it?”

Homosexuality is one of the most controversial moral issues of our day, yet, sadly the church has often been afraid to talk about homosexuality. Many Christians feel confused and divided between the call to love and the call for truth. And many who struggle with unwanted same-sex attraction feel alone and alienated by the church.

Hubbard admits in his book, “The first time I counseled a man struggling with same-sex attraction (SSA), I felt awkward [but] the more I listened, the more I learned, the more I realized—we are not different. We are the same. Our specific battles and sins may vary, but our hearts are the same. And our daily need for the grace of Jesus is the same.”

The time is ripe, now more than ever, for God’s people to think and speak about same-sex attraction in a way that is both biblical and beneficial. We must reject our fears and misunderstandings and see ourselves together in need of the grace of Jesus. Love Into Light is designed to move the church toward that end.

Written from the heart of a pastor with a love for people and a sensitivity to our culture, Love Into Light is your next step toward becoming more faithfully and helpfully engaged with people in your families, in your church, and in your neighborhood.

#Throwback Thursday: Pastor & Deacons: Servants Working Together

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

Carl Herbster has served for over 20 years as pastor of Tri-City Baptist Church in Independence, Missouri. The church has started several other churches, operates a Christian school, and a Christian camp (Southland Christian Camp), and is heavily committed to foreign missions.

Ken Howerton is a certified program manager with IBM. He has served as chairman of deacons in two churches. His wisdom and stability and his commitment to the Lord’s work, have made him a gracious servant and wise counselor.

As fellow servants in the same church, Carl Herbster and Kenneth Howerton collaborated in the writing of Pastor & Deacons: Servants Working Together to answer questions such as:

  • How should a church be organized?
  • What functions do the pastors, deacons, and congregation serve?
  • Who qualifies for the offices of pastor and deacon?
  • How should a church manage its finances?
  • How does a congregation biblically address problems?

Pastor and Deacons by Carl Herbster and Ken HowertonPublished by Ambassador International on September 1, 2006, the “on-the-job,” real-life experiences of the authors make this a particularly practical book and no less relevant to churches today.

Pastor & Deacons is a practical exposition and application of biblical principles of church organization and leadership, and is a must-read for pastors, pastoral staffs, deacons, and any other church leadership. Don’t trust us? Trust the word of evangelist Tom Farrell who endorsed this book saying, “Pastor & Deacons is a must-read for all those in church leadership . . . . This book is biblical, practical and helpful. It is chock-full of “how to” ideas that will strengthen relationships and promote spiritual unity in the local church. The principles on church discipline and the chapter on “Dealing with Difficulties” are worth the price of the book. Pastor, get this book and you will refer to it often.”

#Throwback Thursday: Declutter Now!: Uncovering the Hidden Joy and Freedom in Your Life

posted on

As we reminisce on the over forty years that God has blessed Ambassador International to remain in business, we are highlighting a different #backlistbook each week in a series called #ThrowbackThursday.

This week’s featured book is Declutter Now!: Uncovering the Hidden Joy and Freedom in Your Life by Lindon and Sherry Gareis which was published by Ambassador International on August 20, 2012.

Lindon and Sherry Gareis, certified Christian Life Coaches from Glendale, Arizona, are the founders of Action Plan Ministries. Their blended family includes three sons and one daughter – Trent, 25, Ryan, 24, Devin, 22, and Sarah, 22. Lindon and Sherry love being outdoors, love being together, and are committed to a lifelong honeymoon.

Negative clutter can invade every area of your life—not just your closets. Relationships, finances, kids, jobs, health and spiritual wellbeing are all adversely impacted by the unnecessary and harmful stuff we accumulate and hold onto. That could be physical junk or emotional baggage. Husband and wife Lindon and Sherry Gareis, authors of Declutter Now! Uncovering the Hidden Joy and Freedom in Your Life  know this from firsthand experience. “This clutter gripped Lindon and I and held us back from the freedom to enjoy what we really felt called to,” explains Sherry. “And that was ministry.”

Declutter Now by Lindon and Sherry GareisDeclutter Now! encourages readers to declutter every area of life: your heart, mind, body, soul and home. “We find false security in our stuff. We keep company with the wrong people for the wrong reasons. We hold on to negative and painful feelings,” says Lindon. “Think about all of the unnecessary things we gather from these behaviors and choices—stagnant lifestyles, needless and excessive stuff, financial debt, obligation, guilt, extra weight, anger, hurt, discontentment, addictions; the list is endless.” Declutter Now! will help the reader let go of those negative influences that impact our quality of life and our relationship with God. Since decluttering removes what you don’t need and gives you more of what you do, it only makes sense your spiritual journey will benefit too.
